UTCB - PROJECT DIRECTOR AND CONSORTIUM LEADER
The TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF CIVIL ENGINEERING BUCHAREST (UTCB) is the oldest and the largest University with a higher education course in Civil Engineering in Romania. Currently, it has over 6000 students and 500 teaching staff in 6 faculties from the civil engineering field. UTCB is recognized as a centre of excellence for research, consulting and postgraduate training (Master and PhD) in civil engineering in Romania. The UTCB team that will implement the current project proposal has a long-standing experience in the fields of structural design, seismic analysis, earthquake engineering, seismic design and assessment of building structures etc. The members of the team are involved in a number of national as well as international projects aiming at seismic risk reduction and disaster resilience. They participated in the preparation of the P100-1 Romanian Code for Seismic Design of New Buildings and of the P100-3 Romanian Code for Seismic Evaluation of Existing Buildings, as well as of the National Annex for Romania of Eurocode 8, which are essential regulatory documents for the current project proposal. Members of the UTCB team were involved in the development and implementation of the JICA Technical Cooperation Project for Seismic Risk Reduction of Buildings and Structures in Romania (2002-2008).
PARTNER 1 – URBAN-INCERC
The NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT IN CONSTRUCTION, URBAN PLANNING AND SUSTAINABLE SPATIAL DEVELOPMENT "URBAN-INCERC performs studies and fundamental research of national and international public relevance, for the development of building sciences. Among its relevant fields of activity can be mentioned: structural analysis, earthquake engineering, reinforced and pre-stressed concrete structures, building vulnerability to earthquake hazards, education for seismic risk mitigation etc. The institute has the largest database and seismic network in Romania for strong ground motions; it performs in situ and laboratory testing on building elements and structures; develops prescriptions and regulations for building design, offers consultancy and performs technical assessments in construction. The project team from the National Institute for Research and Development in Construction, Urban Planning and Sustainable Spatial Development “URBAN-INCERC” activates in the division “Sustainable performance - safety to extreme natural and anthropic actions and fire safety of buildings” of the INCERC Bucharest Branch, and includes members of the former division of Earthquake Engineering in INCERC, which were involved in the research activities performed for the development of the earlier versions of the P100 seismic code.
PARTNER 2 - SC Institute for Computers SA ( ITC)
The INSTITUTE FOR COMPUTERS (ITC) has developed complex IT&C systems within Romanian R&D Competitions, such as: RELANSIN, AMTRANS, INFOSOC, CEEX (ROSERIS, SIMVAPS, SINTESERV), PNCDI2 2007 (INFOMARK), PNCDI2 2008 (E-MARKETING).
